Counselling gives the client a chance to talk about what is bothering them to someone who is not a family member or a friend.
Together we ‘open up’ and explore the issue and this helps the client understand things better.
I help them to look at all the options available so that they feel able to make their own decision.
ABOUT ME
I am an experienced Integrative Psychotherapist/Counsellor with an MA from the University of Nottingham and an Accredited and Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and fully adhere to their Code of Ethics.
I have an MA in Counselling Children and Young People from the University of Nottingham and a Diploma in Integrative Counselling.
Throughout my career, I have also counselled adults of different ages.
In my current role as a University Counsellor, I work with students (undergraduate and postgraduate) as well as members of staff of the University.
I have worked for SafeSpeak (Oct’15-Feb’18) the young people’s service offered by Relate in Derby, offering counselling support for children and young people aged 5 to 18.
From October 2015 to February 2018 I have been employed by Kooth Counselling (part of XenZone) working in Nottingham City (having worked as a volunteer for Kooth since June 2014). I have counselled a large number of young people aged 10 to 25 in schools and other community settings.
I have worked for Place2Be for two years, counselling and supporting children in a primary school in Nottingham (4 to 10 years old). For this age group I use Play Therapy as children communicate better when they play.
I have a Diploma in Clinical Supervision from the Sherwood Institute in Nottingham and offer supervision at competitive rates (£50/hour).
